Iris&Romeo is a completely new brand to me, and I have to admit that I was immediately intrigued by the name Weekend Skin. It is one of those product names that actually tells you something about the product, because this is exactly the sort of base I think of as weekend skin. Here’s the lowdown on Iris&Romeo Weekend Skin SPF 50 in Universal Glow.
My shade: Universal Glow
I have the product in Universal Glow, which is described as the most flexible shade for light to medium-deep skin tones. There are four shades in total: Cool Glow, Universal Glow, Warm Glow and Sheer Bronze Glow.
When I first put Universal Glow on, I thought it looked a little yellow. However, once I actually worked it into the skin, it blended beautifully and the colour toned into my skin really well.
My thoughts
This is my first experience of Iris&Romeo, and Weekend Skin has definitely made me curious about the brand.
I really like how natural this looks on the skin. It gives me enough coverage to make a difference, but not so much that I feel as though I’m wearing foundation. It feels light, moisturising and comfortable, doesn’t irritate my eyes and gives me that softly polished finish that I really like.
For me, the combination of light coverage + SPF 50 + comfortable texture is what makes it work.
It isn’t the cheapest product in my SPF drawer, and if I wanted more coverage I’d probably reach for something else. But for those days when I want my skin to look fresh, even and healthy without looking made up, I think Weekend Skin gets the balance right.
And yes, the name really does fit. This is weekend skin in the best possible way.
