Lisa Eldridge has launched a brand new concealer, the Luminist Buildable Fluid Concealer, which joins her complexion collection as a lightweight, buildable formula designed to conceal, correct and brighten.

I was matched to two shades at the launch event: Shade 5, which is designed to brighten and correct, and Shade 9, which is my skin-tone match.

The shade matching was an instant highlight for me because the whole experience of trying Luminist was so lovely and sensorial. The formula has a very skincare-like feel, which makes sense when you discover that it contains 80% skincare ingredients.

I’ve now been properly testing both shades, and I’ve got plenty to say about the formula, finish, coverage and wear.

So, here is my full review of the new Lisa Eldridge Luminist Buildable Fluid Concealer, including swatches and photos of how it looks on my skin.

Lisa Eldridge Luminist Concealer Shades & Swatches

Luminist Buildable Fluid Concealer is available in 20 shades, designed to cover a range of skin tones with options for correcting, brightening and skin-tone matching.

I was matched to two shades at the launch:

Shade 5 – Brightening and correcting

Shade 9 – Skin-tone match

Shade 5

Shade 5 is the shade I’d use primarily for brightening and correcting under my eyes.

I concentrate it towards the inner corner of the eye, where I have more darkness.

Shade 9

Shade 9 is my skin-tone match.

When I first looked at it, I thought it might be a tiny bit too dark for me, but once blended into my skin it tones in perfectly.

I use this under my eyes after Shade 5, but also all over my face wherever I want to even things out. That includes around the sides of my nose, on my chin and around my smile lines, as well as over areas of redness and hyperpigmentation.

How To Apply Luminist Concealer

I’ve been using the doe-foot to dot the concealer directly onto the areas I want to cover and then blending it with the new Lisa Eldridge brush*.

The applicator is very soft and bendy, with a tapered finer tip that makes it easy to get into smaller areas and apply the product precisely.

If I want more coverage, I simply tap the product in with my finger.

You can also sheer the formula out with blending, or leave it sitting on the skin for a little while before blending if you want to build up the coverage.

What I remember particularly liking about Densiliss was the way it perfected the skin without looking like a heavy layer of concealer.

Luminist gives me a similar feeling. It makes the skin look smoother, more even and more perfected, but it doesn’t look obvious that you’ve applied a lot of makeup.

Lisa Eldridge Luminist Buildable Fluid Concealer: My Verdict

I genuinely have no notes. That doesn’t happen very often.

At £31, Luminist is certainly not one of the cheapest concealers around, but I think it delivers the level of quality and performance that Lisa Eldridge customers have come to expect.

For me, it is the combination of everything that makes it work so well. The texture feels like skincare. It is cooling, light and completely weightless, but it gives excellent coverage. You can sheer it out or build it up, it blurs pores, covers redness and pigmentation, and it gives the skin that lovely juicy finish without looking wet or shiny.

It is also incredibly comfortable and, after my 11-hour test, I was really impressed with how well it held up. But the thing I keep coming back to is how natural it looks.

It makes my skin look smoother, more even and more perfected, without looking as though I’ve put a load of concealer on.

And I love that I can use Shade 5 to brighten and correct, Shade 9 as my skin-tone match, or use either one separately depending on what I’m doing.

It is one of those products where I don’t really have one particular thing I love about it. I just love everything about it. It looks good, feels good, wears beautifully and is incredibly easy to use.

And once I’ve put it on, I can pretty much forget about it. That’s a pretty good result from a concealer.
