I have rosacea and sensitive skin that tends to be combination or sometimes on the dry side. I do miss salicylic acid as an acne leave-on treatment, it’s just too drying, so I thought I’d give this wash a try. After my ingredient checker found this to be mostly okay, minus one ingredient that I haven’t had problems with, I took the plunge.Elephant in the room, that one ingredient is Bergamot Oil. I haven’t had issues with this perfuming agent, but those of us with super sensitive skin get kind of used to testing things out before we go full in – do that. This one can be an irritant and cause issues in the sun so they say it’s better to use it before bed. Science type people also seem to think the sun issue is a bigger problem in lotions and makeup that stay on your skin than things that don’t really linger so much like cleansers. Being a wash, I guess they can still make the ‘sensitive skin’ claim, but I’m a little lost as to why they even bothered to add this ingredient at all. This is 2022, we have options! I won’t take stars off considering the rest of its awesomeness, but I won’t just let it slide without a big mention, either! (wags finger)I did photograph the ingredients, but the bumpy box didn’t allow for a good image. They’re supplied in the product description if you want an easier method. I wanted you to see what the wash looks like, but it’s really challenging to show the great lather that this makes – my hands were all lathery and wet and the phone was so slippery! I didn’t get that particular photo. I just lather it up good in my hands and then work it into my face. I had more product in the picture than I generally use, it takes very little, bubbles up very easily, and gets your face squeaky clean. The scent is light and sort of a classic soap smell that doesn’t linger.I suppose it’s the salicylic acid, but this does tend to be drying on my dry skin, which didn’t surprise me at all. I usually only use this a few times a week or when I notice extra oily patches or breakouts starting. Sometimes I use my regular wash and use a tiny bit of this around my nose and rosacea prone areas. Even though I use it in moderation, it’s very useful to have in my toolbox and I notice a big difference. This definitely helps reduce my inflammation and lowers potential breakouts when I start to see the little red bumps forming here and there, which sometimes happens in my pinker rosacea-prone areas. I found at least four ingredients besides SA that help with inflammation and redness. I would definitely recommend this, in moderation for us dryer folks, but if you have oily skin you can go hog wild with it. Just be sure to test your skin with that iffy Bergamot Oil if you tend to be more sensitive.
