In my parents generation, Selenium was rich in the soil and we did not have to worry. With all the intensive farming, the soil is now largely lacking and so it has become a common deficiency. It is recognised by the Arthritic Society to help with joints and has now recently been acknowledged to be a very protective mineral, particulary with breast cancer prevention. This info is readily available if you wish to research.

Capsules are easy to swallow. Good value for 3 months supply. It works but isn’t quite as effective as my usual brand, so I have had to take a double dose on occasion.

These are small capsules, which are easy to swallow. You take one a day, so the tub will last for 3 months; at the current price of £5.98, I think that is good value for Selenium as they tend to be a more expensive supplement.Selenium is one of the 7 supplements I take daily for my Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Healing a fatty liver is very slow going, I had an issue with Paracetamol and Lansoprazole, cutting out the former completely and changing the latter to Omeprazole helped a lot but my levels were still way too high and refusing to budge anymore. NAFLD isn’t treated on the NHS, they only monitor it with regular blood tests and scans when necessary. I got a book from Amazon at the end of 2017 about how to heal a fatty liver and have been taking these supplements since the beginning of 2018 every day ever since then. I don’t actually feel any better but my bloodwork has improved massively since taking them and my doctor has told me that it is working so to carry on doing what I’m doing.
