I have to update this review because once I posted it, the company got in touch immediately and sent me a replacement straightening iron…along with a surprise bonus. They have now replaced the locking function with a silicone tip that holds the plates together while not in use. I am so, so impressed by this customer service that I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more products in the future.Original review…I read a lot of reviews about this product before purchasing it. There were many reviews that talked about the lock function malfunctioning. I decided to purchase the product anyway thinking that the lock function would be no big deal. I LOVED it…until the lock function stopped working. The problem was that once the lock function stopped working, it was like the plates did not clamp together properly when straightening my hair. Basically this product is useless now. Very unfortunate. It was a great straightening iron, until it wasn’t 🙁

Update! The customer service is amazing! They saw my review and got back to me as soon as possible and fully replaced my straightner for free! I was shocked that they did this and the person I was talking to was wonderful! They sent the straightner to me really fast too knowing I was leaving for a trip soon. I love this straightner so much so I am happy it was fully replaced. It’s hard finding something that works fast with my thick long curly hair. I have also brought it on my trip to England and it works great here too. So really happy with it.I wouldn’t recommend this straightner I haven’t had this for a year yet. And the lock on this is broken now it happened today. To the point where I can’t close the straightner to be able to use it. I am so sad Becuase at first I loved this. It heated up great, it wad able to tackle my thick hair wonderfully. But for the price and it not even lasting one year because the lock breaks really easily really sucks.I have had my old straightner for over 12 years and I was really rough with that one. I was really careful this my new straightner and it breaks before the year mark…. do not recommend and also I have noticed I am not the only person with this problem with this straightner.

It’s a good straightener I bought the blue one. For some reason no locking mechanism on it though so that’s my only complaint.

Edit: the company reached out to me after my review and immediately apologized for the malfunction and sent a newer addition that closes with a silicone tip instead of a locking mechanism. I received the new device within a week and it works amazingly. All they asked was a video of the old one showing what was wrong, sent directly to them, so that there was no charge or hassle of shipping it back. Genuinely couldn’t have had better customer service provided. Thank you Nition!I have had this as a Christmas present Dec 2023, so only five months. I keep it in the heat protector bag it comes with I wrap the cord the way it was found. I still have the glove and comb tucked away with it. I absolutely love this thing, I haven’t learned how to curl with it yet but I have not given myself the time too. Today May 28 2024, a mere five months later, I found that the lock mechanism isn’t working and I cannot close it all the way in order to straighten my hair. I will contact the company and update later. $50+ for a device to break in 5 months is sad. The cheaper hair straightener I had before for 6ish years I treated with less regard and never had an issue with. So I am a bit disappointed.

I am very happy with this straightener. It feels like an extension of my hand, is light and smooth, plates warm quickly and holds temperature during the entire styling process. The plates glide smoothly, are longer and press evenly along the each hair section. I can easily straighten or curl my medium length hair and when I’m done just lock the plates and securely store it on the pouch.I received this product as a Xmas present and was my go-to styler since then, but on Feb 5 the clamp stopped working and plates were unable to hold a steady temperature. I was able to style my hair straight, no curls. I reached out to Nition CS and after a few hours of starting electronic communications, Rain the very attentive and knowledgeable CSR send me a return label for the styler and started the process to send me a new replacement which arrived at my doorsteps by Feb 11. During the days in between I was kept informed about status of the package and reassured that my straightener will continue to be under warranty. I was impressed with the product itself but now I’m more impressed of the company that did all that was in their power to make right something that was out of my control. It was a pleasure communicating with a CSR that understood the client’s problem and took a very proactive approach towards solving it. Rain is very professional, and IMO a great asset for your company. Currently, I’m back to enjoying doing my hair, having shinny, professional looking results in less time than ever. Five stars all around.
