The pages of this palette pad are smooth and coated with wax as you would expect from this type of product, but the edges of the pad are not glued down so the pages curl up, which makes it very hard to use. My acrylic paint doesn’t bleed through the paper, which is important. I like the 9×12 format, the shape and the hole that makes it easy to hold, but at $15.95 for a pad of 20 sheets, it’s not a great value considering that the pages curl up a lot.

Palette paper is a great addition to an artist studio. Cleanup is always in the forefront of my mind. I have not tried Meeden’s palette paper before so I was interested to see how it performs. The palette paper comes in a pad format and the idea is to leave on the pad when using. Then tear off and dispose of. The palette paper in this particular pad is coated with what looks like the USA version of silicone coated baking paper. Very smooth and slippery. It does not bleed through and because it is non absorbent it does keep the paint fresh for a bit longer (I work with acrylics) . The inclusion of a thumb cutout is nice if you like holding your palette.Why I deducted stars. The moment I took the plastic pack off the palette paper curled (I am assuming the coating caused this). No amount of paint held it flat to the pad … the only way to keep it flat was to clip the outer corners. Which defeats the purpose of having it in a pad format.

This is a very good palette. The pages are smooth and waxed. It’s a smaller palette than I normally use. The pages are a little thinner too. Also, the palette paper I usually use is tacked down on two sides so it doesn’t curl up. This one doesn’t have that. I can put a clip on it if I’m going to be outdoors which is what I want to use this smaller palette for. It’s going to be good for that because I’ll be using it for a smaller painting and will have enough room on this for what I need. All in all it’s a good palette.
