For what I needed it for, it was perfect. I wanted to neutralize the red undertone in my hair from my last salon appointment fading and my old blonde highlights peeking through as red very red. I don’t like super warm brown on me.This does have a green undertone to it when you apply, but that’s exactly what I needed as green neutralizes red. It is pretty dark, but not black. It is very clearly a neutral dark brown once you blow dry. For the price, I do recommend it if you are like me and trying to get rid of red undertones and stretch out your salon visits.I do recommend gloves but I was able to wash away the tint wherever it got on my skin. Also a colour application brush if you want the application to be super precise.

I use Adore semi-permanent dyes regularly and definitely recommend some of the colours like Mocha. This one, however, is a big miss for me.As others have remarked, Darkest Brown contains a substantial amount of green. It’s visible as soon as you open the bottle. At first I had good results with it because I added it in small amounts to Mocha, which is more red. It helped deepen the brown nicely. But then a few weeks later I tried applying just Darkest Brown with no other colours, and that’s when things went wrong.I noticed right away that the foam coming off when shampooing was dark, forest green. At first the colour on my hair looked okay, but then it started fading (as all semi-permanent dye does) which is when my hair developed a green hue to it.I have dark brown hair so this isn’t a big deal for me. I’m disappointed (especially since I have 2 bottles left) but I will be able to correct the colour with Adore dyes that are redder. However, I think people with lighter hair colours (blonde, light brown, full grey) may end up with results that are greenish right from the start, before the fading happens, because they don’t have dark hair to help conceal the green undertones of this colour.Bottom line, I wish Adore would create a true ash brown that is neutral, without a green undertone like Darkest Brown has. Until then I guess I will stick to mixing Mocha with other shades to create a more neutral brown myself.
