Great book
“Gut Health for Women” by J.H. Philips is a comprehensive guide that sheds light on the vital connection between gut health and overall well-being. While the author’s description of the microbiome as the “second brain” is not entirely accurate, the book excels in providing valuable insights into digestive health, its impact on mental health, and practical steps to improve both. With well-researched content and a focus on holistic approaches, this resource proves invaluable for anyone seeking to transform their gut health and overall vitality.

In an era where the quest for wellness often leads us through a maze of dietary trends and fitness fads, this book emerges full of clarity and practicality. This comprehensive guide not only demystifies the intricate workings of the gut but also presents a transformative path towards improved gut health. The narrative is persuasive and engaging, effectively highlighting the often overlooked connection between gut health and overall well-being.The book explores issues like unexplained stomach problems, mood swings, and persistent skin issues that can all be traced back to gut health. This book is certainly going to be an invaluable resource for anyone looking to reset their gut health and, by extension, transform their life.

There is plenty in this book. I liked it as it took a no-nonsense and direct approach to strong affirmations of common sense, things we often hear and associate to well-being. This resource, however, provides a deeper dive into the relationships and connections as to the why’s – explaining how deep breathing, certain herbs, movement like yoga, mindfulness, and stress management, as a handful of examples, all have a contributory impact to the functions of our guts. I found the information explaining the basics of our Vagus nerve and its critical role to our overall health particularly enlightening and was able to recognize some of the gaps in my own day to day living where slight adjustments could invariably assist me in my own strife for an improved gut-brain connection. Being an individual very interested to keep on top of my health and mental well being, I found this to be a great to-the-point resource with just enough background knowledge to inspire me to do more to keep myself healthy. The information made good sense.

I picked up this book because I have been trying to “eat clean” to reduce inflammation. According to my doctor, I needed an overhaul, so I have been doing some of these practices, but still need help. This book is well-researched and has so much useful information and tips. The author stresses the importance of a balanced body ecosystem and using a holistic approach. This is not meant to be a diet but rather a way of life that nourishes the body and decreases inflammation.I found the mind-gut connection to be fascinating. As the author stated; ‘every bite and every emotion matters’. There were practical tips to decrease stress such as meditation andyoga, providing pictures of yoga poses that specifically help relieve stress and improve digestion. It was a great read
