Giving it one star was generous. This the second one of its type I have bought as the first one didn’t work properly and neither does this one. The instructions are all in Chinese so you have to wing it but, although it does produce steam, it doesn’t heat it, which was the whole point for me as I have blepharitis.

There are a number of things that trigger my dry eye condition and I have a few different tools I use regularly in addition to eye drops to help, especially when one of my eyes refuses to stop weeping. In addition to airborne allergens and computer work etc, dry air and blocked oil glands can also contribute to dry eye.Humidifiers help to add moisture to the air and heat compresses help to unblock oil glands around your eyes. This little machine is both of those things! It is really handy to keep on your bedside cabinet and use as and when you need it. It is charged by USB and rechargeable so you don’t need to plug it in to use it.Unfortunately, the instructions are not in English so with a little bit of trial and error I was able to figure it out. First, wash the funnel end that goes against your eye to make sure it is clean. Fill the little chamber up with water. The top button has a sun symbol on it and long pressing it activates the heat and you can cycle through the temperature options of 45, 55 and 65 degrees centigrade. You will know you’ve done it correctly because the numbers will appear.The bottom button is the power button with a long press and then it cycles through three options. The first is represented by one water drop and is low steam. The second has three water drops and is high stream. The third is represented by an eye shape and a green light comes on. This is the heat compress option.Now, as I said before, this is my interpretation of how the device works and it has helped me. I don’t press the device against my eye when it is in humidifier mode, I just gently wave it around near where I’m sitting to add moisture to the air. When it is in green light / no steam mode and with the heating option switched on, I use the device as an eye compress and I can feel the heat on my eye. Always make sure you have water in the little tank so it can operate correctly.So, there you go, a nice little gadget to help with blocked oil glands and dry eyes. It won’t completely replace my large room humidifier nor my full heated eye mask, but it is perfect for grabbing and giving me some instant relief when my dry eye is triggered because when life is busy, I just don’t always have time to sort out my big humidifier or lie down with my eye mask on! Really happy with this, five out of five stars.
