Magnesium malate is a highly bioavailable form of magnesium that’s very good for helping alkalize the body, soothing muscle aches and 300 other things that magnesium helps with in the chemistry of the body. It helps me relax and lower my blood pressure. It is chelated with malic acid, a nutrient found in fruits that is very good for you.One of my two favorite forms of magnesium. Magnesium malate is a little more economical. My other favorite is magnesium taurate. I frequently take one tablet of each when I get my daily magnesium.

I started exploring different versions of Magnesium due to excessive fatigue, cramping in my legs and brain fog which had become debilitating. I’m a writer and my work wasn’t going very well. Walking had become difficult. I landed on a Magnesium deficiency as a potential cause due to my heavy work out routines. It turns out being a gym rat isn’t the only thing that depletes our Magnesium. Magnesium is needed for so many processes in our bodies. In a perfect world where farmers use no pesticides, the rain is free of sulfur that create the acid rains that destroy a plants ability to take up magnesium (along with a host of other worldly imperfections) we would get our magnesium from leafy green vegetables and nuts and seeds. Add to this stress, power work outs, alcohol, prescribed medications as well and 80% of us are Magnesium deficient. Magnesium Malate is Magnesium that is bound to Malic Acid (found in apples) to aid absorption of this mineral in the gut. I’ve worked my way through Magnesium Citrate which isn’t bad, Mag Taurate which is a little better as well as Mag Glycinate which I found the weakest of the three. I eliminated from my personal trials the Oxide and Aspartame varieties (often found in places like GNC, Wallmart and Target because it makes the mineral cheaper) due to studies that have exposed these varieties as ineffective.I now have enormous energy, my muscles stretch beautifully in Yoga class and muscle soreness is next to non existent. I sleep soundly. I gave some of this Magnesium Malate to a friend who suffered from Migraines almost daily. Her headaches in the first week were reduced to two and these were no longer migraine strength. After two weeks she only had one mild headache which didn’t require the use of her meds. She’s thrilled. Now all she has to do is deal with her family issues and maybe she won’t have any! Source Naturals has a good reliable product here. Most of my friends are using it now too and they’re all pleased. I think you will be too.

I have tried almost everything for FM with little to no success. The meds that did work for pain relief I could not continue as they were damaging my organs. I am extremely sensitive to most meds and so is my asthma – so anything that depresses the lungs/breathing is not good. After having seen ten doctors, going through most of my savings and trying this, that and the other, I finally came across these pills.Let me say the recommended dosage is three with each meal. However, I always start with half a pill, then work up to what works. If one and a half or even two pills does the job, I don’t need three. That being said, you are going to need a pill crusher – these pills are huge, and even cut in half they don’t always go down smoothly. I am willing to work around this because these pills do work, so crushing them up and putting them in applesauce or whatever is not that big of a deal to be out of pain.I noticed a decrease in pain in the first 48 hours of taking them. My pain is normally in the 8-10 range, sometimes over and its all I can think about which makes everything else a major chore and ends up on another ‘to do’ list when I can. So far these pills have not taken the pain away completely, put has bumped it down about 4-5 notches on the pain scale. It not only helps with pain, but ‘evens’ me out. That is how I used to be before I got FM. It helps tone down the sensitive stimuli response that gets cranked up during a flare. (noise, lights, voices, etc.)I am also taking Now Liquid Vitamin D-3 and a kosher multivitamin. I am also looking into a complex B vitamin, and D-Ribose for energy. I am introducing things slowly as I don’t want to overload my system and it’s impossible to know what one thing works when you have too much going on.Like anyone who suffers with an ailment, I continue more years of research in trying to get to the bottom of the issue. What I have discovered (being my own guinea pig) is that there are major deficiencies within the make-up of the cell that need to be supplemented correctly with the right mix. We cannot get that through our food source since most soil is nutrient-depleted, and GMO food is what is contributing (if not the main source) to a country full of sick people. If you think this is a joke, check out the countries that have banned Monsantos (GMO frankenfood headquarters), including Japan who recently cancelled their wheat supply with the US due to tainted GMO’s. I have cut out every known food problem as well-caffeine, pop, coffee, gluten, etc, though it is not always possible to remain faithful to this, it is an exercise in discipline; and I do notice a difference in how I feel after eating ‘bad foods.’Everyone is different and needs to find what works for them. I highly suggest trying this product because if you are like me, you have nothing to lose and have tried everything else.

I have severe myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and fibromyalgia, & the constant pain that is associated with them. I tried magnesium malate because malic acid and magnesium were mentioned as possibly being helpful in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Treatment Guide (Quality Medical Home Health Library). I didn’t think it would be too helpful, but decided to give it a chance. On the day I received it, I had my usual pain and stiffness that I’ve had now for the last 15-20 years. I mistakenly took a large dose (three pills), and went about my business. About 20 minutes later I was coming down the stairs and realized I was not limping and wasn’t in pain!!! I had forgotten what lack of pain felt like, and the sensation of no pain was amazing. I’m currently taking a total of 6 pills a day (two pills, three times daily), and have much less pain than I used to. It has resolved my chronic constipation also. If you have suffer from ME/CFS or fibromyalgia, this product might help you too. Good Luck.Update: There has been a reduction in my hair-fall since I started taking this supplement (about 3 weeks) to about 1/3 of what it used to be. I can also do things I couldn’t before I started on the supplement, like lifting up my 5-year old nephew and rearranging furniture.Update #2: After about 2-3 years of taking this supplement, I am mostly pain-free unless I push myself too hard. Sometimes I can even go down to 3 pills a day (as recommended by the manufacturer). I don’t attribute the improvement in health solely to the magnesium malate since I take many other supplements for my symptoms. However, the magnesium malate definitely played a major role in my getting better and has allowed me to reduce many of the other supplements I used to take.
